We're building the mosquitorgnole, a tiny drone that uses ultrasonic sonar to locate mosquitoes and grind them in its propellers. We aim to drastically lower the cost of mosquito control.
Updates
September 2024Our first sonar devkit, Lesonar 2, is available for preorder.
June 2024
First entries in the Pokédex, our insect sonar signature database. We will record the sonar signature of most flying insects to verify the accuracy of our target classification system. Pictured, sonar signature of a wasp.
May 2024
First in-flight mosquito detection using an MTI sonar. The mosquito is invisible on the video, but clearly visible on the sonar screen.

Next steps are miniaturization, pan/tilt tracking and drone mounting!! https://t.co/w7ooMMXiOr pic.twitter.com/FMsV0WLYMV
We're seeing 2mm wide plastic balls. SNR budget validated.
Update: It works!!!

We’re able to see a 2mm wide plastic ball at 30 centimeters, with only 1/1300th of our planned transmitting power.
This validates our SNR budget and gets us closer to our final goal: tracking and killing mosquitoes at a 3meters range https://t.co/dA6hDyEjW7 pic.twitter.com/DdEmHV0JpL
Second sonar entering production.
First 3D images! Development of a 400-microphones sonar array starting.
